COMPETITION RULES AND GUIDELINES

Intra-club competitions are run on a monthly basis. The following guidelines should be observed when submitting work for judging:

Photographing

COMPETITIONS

Competition Themes

Competitions either have an "assigned" topic or "open" topic for which members may submit any photo of their choice.  Members are provided with a description of each theme and the judge who will be critiquing the images.

Exhibition

PRINT IMAGES

Image Size

Prints may be any size up to a maximum of 40cm x 50cm (16in x 20in)

Mount Thickness

Prints to be mounted on Mattboard with a total thickness of no more than 5mm.

 

Mount Size

Mounts must be:

a minimum of 20cm x 25cm (8in x 10in) and a maximum of 40cm x 50cm (16in x 20 in).

​

Members Details

On the back of Print entries, the "Title" of the image and the "Membership Number" is to be written in the "Upper Left Corner"

Storyboard on Screen

DIGITAL IMAGES

Image Size

Electronic Digital Images (E.D.I.) should be saved as JPEG files in the sRGB colour space and should conform to the following size restrictions:
 

Maximum width =    1920 pixels
Maximum height =   1080 pixels
Maximum file size = 3000 Kilobytes (3 Mb)

File names for E.D.I.s should be lower case and in the format:


Title  + (maker's membership number) 34.jpg
 

e.g. Filename for 'A day at the races' by maker 34 would be: a day at the races_34.jpg

Awards

 

Work will be awarded the following:

  • Highly Commended

  • Commended

  • Submitted

 

 

Points will be awarded accordingly and accumulate towards Photographer of the Year:


5  Points = Highly Commended
3  Points = Commended
1  Point = Submitted

 

Only images ranked as "submitted" may be reused for subsequent competitions.

Travel Polaroids

ENTRIES

Number of entries per member

​

Members may submit a maximum of 3 entries on any one competition night in Print, EDI or across both at the members discretion.

eg; 3 Prints or  3 EDI or   2 + 1

​

Submission Date

All work should ideally be submitted at the meeting prior, or by the due date allocated.  Check the calendar for details.

Leather Camera

COMMITTEE

Disputes arising from any aspect of the club or its competitions will be resolved by the Coburg Photography Club Committee and its decision will be final.
